Six sapphire lakes suspended by natural travertine dams in the heart of the Hindu Kush.
About
About This Attraction
Band-e-Amir is Afghanistan's first national park and one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in Central Asia. Six deep-blue lakes are separated by natural dams of travertine — mineral-rich water that has slowly hardened over centuries into towering white walls. The contrast between the electric-blue water, white cliffs, and rust-red mountains is unlike anything else on earth. Visiting at sunrise, when mist hovers over the still water, is an experience that stays with you forever.
